The Family Pet

Many times in families today the family pet is actually treated as a child.  They sleep on the bed with people, they give us lots of enjoyment, and usually require a whole lot less supervision than our kids.  However, cleaning up after pets can be a full-time job and is for most carpet, upholstery, and rug cleaners in the U.S.

The fact is that pets produce a lot of work for carpet cleaning companies and the one way to prevent that is to leave the pets outside.  However, we both know that is not going to happen, especially when you look at that face on the right.

Update on the Frito bag

Pearson Carpet Care 525 N Houston Ave Humble, TX 77338 281-548-7200
The story that ran in R&R magazine showing the Frito bag we found on a water restoration job is now framed along with the Frito bag itself.  This is now hanging in our rug cleaning plant located inside our World Headquarters for all our customers to see and read when they are dropping off or picking up rugs for cleaning.

So next time you are in the shop look for it among the other oddly interesting things we have.

Removing White Wine From Carpet

removing white wine from carpet is a lot easier than red wine www.pearsoncarpetcare.comAs a carpet cleaner since 1992 I am always being asked about different spots people get on their carpet and how they can remove them on their on.  Sometimes these questions can be easily answered and sometimes the answers can be a bit more complex.  It all depends on the type of spot, length of time it has been in the carpet and what has already been done to remove the spot.  I have been asked about removing everything from apricot sauce to zebra blood, except for one thing.  No one ever asks how to remove white wine.  I get asked about red wine often but never once about white wine.

Just once I would love to get asked this easy question.  Since removing white wine is as easy flushing it with water.  However maybe it has something to do with the fact that red wine drinkers are clumsier, maybe white wine drinkers just don't spill that much, not sure.

Drying a wood floor

We have been drying a lot of wood floor lately.  This is a specialized area of drying that not just anyone can do.  There is special equipment needed and a lot of knowledge about the different types of wood and wood floors if you are to be successful.  Besides needing to know whether or not you are dealing with laminate, engineered wood, or solid wood planks you need to also know how the floor is installed.  Is it glued down to the subfloor, a floating floor, or is it up on screeds.  All this information together will tell you whether or not the floor is worth drying and how you should go about drying it.
