Drying In Place: Why aren't you doing it?

Pearson Carpet Care drying a home

Here is an article I wrote for ICS magazine online. Even though the equipment, knowledge, and training to completely dry structures in place has been in the industry for over a decade now, there are still very few companies that try to dry and restore.  Most companies still want to remove and replace things can be dried and restored.  In the article I talk about things that need to change in our industry so that we can move forward.

Cracked Tile on Water Restoration Job

You don't see this often on water restoration jobs, but it does happen.  The cracked tile in the photo on the right is from walking on the tile after water got up under the installation.  Most of the time tile installed on a concrete slab is not adversely affected by a water damage.  However, if the tile is not sitting flat on the subfloor and weight is applied to it then it will crack as is evidenced in the photo.

Specialty Rug Cleaning

We clean rugs from all over the world and so we get in a lot of unusual / specialty rugs that really take a lot of care when cleaning.  The rug in the photo is a machine made wool rug with suede "leaf" insets. Since wool and suede are cleaned differently rugs like this will need extra care and attention. You can find out more on our rug cleaning services and other services we offer by going to our website.  As always, when you drop off your rugs for cleaning at our rug cleaning facility you receive 25% off our normal pick up and delivery price.

You Don't Have To Bring It In...Unless You Want To!

You Don't Have To Bring It In...Unless You Want To!

While our in-plant cleaning process is usually just for rug cleaning, yesterday we had a customer drop off what looks like their living room carpet to the rug plant for cleaning.  While washing the entire room of carpet is a great way to have it thoroughly cleaned, you don't have to do this.  We also offer in home carpet cleaning services.  We will come to your house and clean the carpet in the living room or any other room for that fact.  So save yourself some heavy lifting and leave the carpet in place for cleaning.  Your fine rugs are a different story though, we will clean them in the rug cleaning plant.  Visit our website for more details.

Drying...More To It Than You Might Think

Pearson Carpet Care

Many times when we are drying a house there are challenges that come up.  In the picture to the right we had to dry this column which had water flow down it from upstairs.  If we would have ripped out the basseboard and sheetrock, it would have cost a lot to repair.  The column and surrounding rooms were all faux painted and the cost of repainting all the rooms to match the column would have been thousands.  So we wrapped the column in plastic and pumped in hot dry air from a dehumidifier and a heater and then collected the moist air and ran it back to the top of the dehumidifier.  We were able to completely dry the column and save a lot of money on costly repairs in the process.

In the middle of cleaning
The three photos are of a drying and cleaning job we did recently, here at Pearson Carpet Care.  The first shows us drying the hous
and the carpet is stained. This is caused from the dirt in the backing
of the carpet coming to the surface as the carpet is drying.  The
second photo is taken in the middle of cleaning and the third photo is after the carpet has been fully cleaned.
